CHANDLER, AZ (March, 2016) – The judges of the Story Monster Approved program, which recognizes accomplished authors in the field of children’s literature, have spoken, and Lonnie the Loon Flies South for the Winter by Barbara Renner has earned approval.
The colorful, kid-friendly Story Monster Approved seal attracts the attention of young readers much more than a sticker intended for adult scrutiny. Kids know when they see the Story Monster Approved patch it means children their own age enjoyed the book and are recommending they read it, too. How do they know that? Because after books pass the first round of rigorous judging – which is done by industry experts, the books are then judged by a panel of youth judges who must also endorse the books before they can receive the official seal of approval.

Lonnie the Loon Learns to Fly, a children’s picture book, was honored as a finalist in the 2014 Harvest Book Reading Competition. The Harvest Book Reading’s sole purpose is to showcase the most worthy published authors and their literary work along with helping to provide meals during the holiday season to families in the community who are in need. Thus far, the annual Harvest Book Reading and its literary supporters have helped to feed over the 25,000 neighbors through cash donations to the St. Mary’s Food Bank.
